What We Do
At BCC, we provide a range of housing and other supports to LGBTQIA+ folks who are experiencing
homelessness and family violence.
We prioritise supporting young queer people in the community to access safe and secure housing, mental health support, social support, and to gain access to a range of other resources that many young LGBTQIA+ people may need.
We have a number of different housing initiatives, including:
The Banksia Hosting Program
Mums and Bubs Child Reunification Support
Youth Outreach Team (based in Broadmeadows)
Crisis Accomodation (spread across Melbourne)
BCC also offers in-house support for those needing extra help to live independently due to disability, age, mental health, or parental supervision mandates by the Department of Family, Fairness and Housing. In this way, we have empowered many people to achieve their goal of living on their own, and have also supported parents to be reunified with children previously removed by the state.
While everyone is provided with outreach support when staying in our accomodation, in-house assistance is offered on a case by case basis, depending on the needs of the individuals we have staying with us and our current capacity.
How do I refer?
We accept referrals for all of our programs via the contact form on our website or over the phone.
Participants can self-refer, or be referred by friends, family, case managers, the Department of Family, Fairness and Housing, as well as other departments, services and people from within the community.
